Gotcha Day

It's official. The court decision came one day before I expected it. Two Ghomeshis went to the baby house and three returned to the apartment.

I've been a full-time parent for just over twelve hours now. I already know that it's as hard and as rewarding as everyone says it is. I ought to be sleeping but there's this one really important thing I have to do that I've been dying to do for 7 weeks:

[From one of my first bonding days with her, taken while she's on my lap.]

[This was taken on my very first day with her. I didn't know how angry and scared she was.]

[This is the very first time I made her laugh.]

[I took this today - her very first nap at "home".]

I was taking a break from work and figured I'd read through your blog again and what a lovely surprise. And what a treat for you and for your mom. Her arrival is clearly bringing good luck.

You are terribly lucky, Jila, to have such a lovely baby. And Kiana is oh so lucky to have such a wonderful mom.

Can't wait to see you both in person.

YAHOOOOOO! We are cheering here in Winnipeg. I cannot believe that you got the surprise of taking her a day earlier than expected. So wonderful. She looks like a content baby, and you look just so great.

What's the time frame from here on in???

CONGRATULATIONS to all three of you!

Wow, Jila. She is so cute and healthy and snuggly and serious-looking--a lot like you, except a bit more frog-legged!. I love the way you described the "two going in/ three coming home." So exciting.
You look great together in the baby carrier!
See you soon.

Congratulations to a complete family!!!! What a thrill for me to check your blog and see the beautiful pictures of Kiana. You two look amazing together. I wish you many blessed moments as you discover the wonders of your daughter. I also wish you luck in sleeping! I don't think I slept at all the first night I had Leah in my room...I was aware of her every movement and couldn't sleep in case I missed something! Please, please let us know when you arrive in Winnipeg...we would love to be at the airport. Margaret
